Located on the grounds of the historic Mayslake Peabody Estate, the First Folio Theatre is surrounded by preserved forest. Its resident theater company presents a variety of dramatic productions from different genres.

The Eastside Recreation Center is a full-service recreation center that features boxing facilities, batting tunnels, pitching facilities, and an indoor soccer field. The center also has a fitness room.

Opened in 1969, the Hemmens Cultural Center is a performing arts center featuring a small 1,200-seat theater. The center hosts several live musical performances a year and can be rented for private events.

The Elgin History Museum, located in Elgin, Illinois, is situated in an 1856 building, which formerly was part of the Elgin Academy. The musem, which displays exhibits of Elgin's cultural history, is listed on the National Register of Historicl Places.
