Bon Secour (meaning 'safe harbor,' ) National Wildlife Refuge is a 7,000 acre nature preserve with a number of endangered species, such as the Alabama beach mouse, more than 370 species of bird, including ospreys and herons, nesting sea turtles and mammals such as red fox, coyotes, and armadillos.
