The chief draw of Danny Cunniff Park is its large sledding hill, which allows for some exciting sledding on a seasonal basis. The park also has sports fields, including a 9 hole disc golf course.

Union Station is an old active train station that offers visitors access to a variety of locations within the city. Guests of this site can also purchase refreshments and explore the site's spacious main dome.

The Oak Lawn Park District is a collection of over 300 acres of parks, open fields, and recreational facilities for public use. These facilities include playgrounds, sports fields, picnic areas, an 18-hole golf course, and numerous others.

The Landmark Renaissance Cinema screens foreign and independent films on its big theater screens. The cinema has an onsite snack bar offering organic and fair trade snacks along with beer, wine, and sodas.

Designed by Jens Jensen and planted in 1917, Northwestern's Shakespeare Garden is a little known secluded formal garden in the midst of campus that highlights plants mentioned in Shakespeare's works. Other features include a sundial, statues, and a fountain.

At Centennial Ice Arena, visitors can participate in public skate sessions or join a hockey league. The arena has a gymnastics program where children are taught how to balance and tumble.

Dempster Street Beach in Evanston offers kayaking and other water sports opportunities along the river. Visitors pay a modest beach fee to use the beach and access its various attractions.
