Winton Blount served as United States Postmaster General from 1969 to 19. In 1985, Blount donated $21.5 million dollars, the largest private donation to American theatre at that time, to build the Museum of Fine Arts and the Alabama Shakespeare Festival in Wynton M. Blount Cultural Park.
