1879 Hooper Strait Lighthouse

In 1879, the screwpile lighthouse was constructed to light the way for boats using Hooper Strait to enter Chesapeake Bay, Tangier Sound, and Deals Island. The lighthouse was moved to its current location where visitors can visitors can climb the sea hatch and tend the lens.
